Data Privacy Policy:
1. We collect and process personal data from you in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2019) of the Laws of Kenya.
2. We collect all your personal data from you unless you authorise us to collect it from other entities, or, the information required is in the public domain.
3. We collect personal identification information (Name, e-mail address, phone number, medical information, identity card number, next of kin and their contact details).
4. The data that we collect is used to:
i) Include you as a participant in the marathon
ii) Email you or communicate any updates with regards to the Lewa Marathon and future events
iii) Keep track of the history of participants taking part in the Lewa Marathon
iv) Allow medical assistance to be given to you based on the medical information given
v) Take photographs and videos of the event and raise awareness and funds for conservation, community and education efforts, across various forms of media
vi) Put you in segments for purposes of the marathon
vii) Communicate any emergencies that may result from your involvement and participation in the marathon
5. We will not collect, store or use your personal data for any other purpose other than the lawful, specific and explicit purposes stipulated above.
6. We securely store your data in our databases that are secure and encrypted with necessary data safety and security precautions.
7. Your rights under the Data Protection Act (2019) are as follows:
a) to be informed of the use to which your personal data is to be put
b) to access your personal data in custody of data controller or data processor
c) to object to the processing of all or part of your personal data
d) to correction of false or misleading data; and
e) to deletion of false or misleading data about you
8. If you make a request, we have seven (7) days to respond to you.
9. The request for access to your personal data shall be free of charge.
