Yes, if you don’t already have existing AMREF evacuation cover you will need to purchase it for Ksh. 1,500, this is a cover for 14 days there after it expires. It begins from the 26th of June, this can be purchased on the website. If you do, you’ll be able to submit your AMREF number on the registration form. The race takes place in a high altitude and high temperature environment and it is therefore best to be covered. Kindly note that without prior cover, emergency medical evacuation can cost over $4,000, which must be paid BEFORE treatment or flight. In an emergency, if there are issues with payment, this can be life threatening.
Please note that the AMREF cover is for evacuation costs only and doesn’t cover hospital medical expenses. We recommend that you have full medical cover.
The race is first and foremost a fundraising event, so we highly encourage all our participants to fundraise for the causes that the marathon supports. There are many ways in which you can support, here are some ideas. In case of any questions, please contact marathon@lewa.org.
If you have any question about your entry or race, we’re just an email away (marathon@lewa.org )
